She was raised in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania by her mother, Eleanor Hoopes. She worked as a nurse in Philadelphia where she married her husband, Dr. Peter C. Mancusi-Ungaro. They later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and then to Lexington, Kentucky. They adopted Cyndi and Andy before moving to Wilmington in the summer of 1975. Hannah received her Bachelor’s Degree from UNCW and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from ECU. She was a cancer survivor and that lead her into caring for other cancer patients. She retired from Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice after working there for many years.
Despite her small stature, Hannah was a woman with a huge heart. She was soft spoken but had a “larger than life” personality. She was always positive. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone and was known for giving her “Hannah Hugs” to those around her. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was fiercely loyal and loved her family more than anything.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Peter C. Mancusi-Ungaro; daughter, Cynthia Ann Ungaro; son, Dr. Andrew Mancusi-Ungaro and his wife, Marley Ungaro; granddaughter, Princess Iyahna Jenkins; grandchildren, Allen G. Mancusi-Ungaro and Langley H. Mancusi-Ungaro; and daughter-in-law, Caitlynn Louise.
A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel with Pastor Khalilah Olokunola officiating. The family will receive family and friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
