Her love will continue living on through her adoring family and friends. Born December 6, 1933 in Cerro Gordo, NC to the late Joseph and Julia Williams, she was the fifth of eleven children. She is survived by her two sisters Bertha Strole and Dora Adams. She graduated from Evergreen High School in. Later that same year, she married Vertise E. Duncan. They had three children. Grace was a devoted and caring mother who dedicated her time to her children who she said “brightened her life”. She instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. When Vertise passed away in 1985, Grace continued her legacy of faith, yet never expected to marry again. But, God blessed her with a wonderful second husband, Robert “Bob” Silva. They married in 1990 and spent the next 19 years together before Bob was called to his eternal home in 2009. Grace leaves behind her three children, Teresa Moore, Greg Duncan (Annette) and Alan Duncan (Renee), seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Grace’s life could be compared to a beautiful quilt. There were so many pieces of her life that she put together that brought warmth and comfort to those who knew her. She had many wonderful God-given talents that all worked together for her to be of service to others. She was an amazing seamstress, her whole life. She loved making dresses and other clothing for her children and grandchildren and longtime clients. She spent many hours crocheting lap blankets for the local nursing homes and knitting hats for the newborns at the hospital. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and desserts for her family. Grace loved music and singing. She was a member of her church choir for 40 years. She and Bob traveled to area nursing homes singing to the elderly. She felt this was their calling . She also worked at Belk for many years before retiring. Grace accepted Christ at 14 years old and from that point on, her life was centered around her church and the joy of serving the Lord. Her greatest desire was for her family to come to know the Lord and meet her in heaven.
