Frances Jeanette Cannon Stewart, 77, of Leland passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Cora Belle Jones and Joseph Edgar Cannon. Frances was a licensed cosmetologist and Owner of Frances’ House of Styles in Leland, NC in the early to mid 1970’s. She was also a loyal employee of City Optical Laboratories for over 20 years. She was known to many as the “Sample Lady” at Chick Fil A, where she was a dedicated employee at 2 locations in Wilmington, Westfield Shopping Center and Market Street. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the NC Elks Lodge #0332 and the Loyal Order of the Moose and Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Patrick Stewart, Jr.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Janice Stewart Sellers and her husband, John of Wilmington, Robin Star Stewart and her husband, Randy Taylor of Wilmington, Goldie Stewart Robinson and her husband, John of Wilmington; son, Charles Patrick Stewart III and his wife, Doris of Leland, NC; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service Oleander Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Wright, Travis Kelly, Willie Wilson, Jason Kelly, Tim Arneson, Jason, Dontai Miller, and Matthew Macewicz.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Friday at the funeral home.
