friends, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, after an extended
illness in Wilmington, NC.
Buck was born in Maco, NC, October 24,1935 to Daniel Lennex Potter and
Wardie Willets Potter. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Eula
Mae King Potter. He is also survived by his daughter Linda Potter
Crawford (Kyle of Wilmington, NC), and sister, Doris Close, of Charleston,
SC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnna Potter. He leaves
behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including Dr.
Jack Wilson, Jr., and Dr. Leo Warshauer & staff.
Buck was a faithful member of Winter Park Baptist Church, where he
particularly enjoyed the Lunch & Learn fellowship and games of dominoes
played with church friends.
After serving in the US Navy, on the USS Cora Sea Aircraft Carrier, Buck
began his civilian career in the power industry. He worked several years at
Potomac Electric Company in Washington, D. C. He retired with Progress
Energy, after several years of service. He was a graduate of Leland High
School and participated in High School and Legion Baseball. He loved to
travel with his wife Eula and they visited many fun and exotic places.
Buck was a real southern gentleman and would always lend a helping
hand to anyone who needed him. He was a loving and devoted husband,
Daddy, Brother, Uncle and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing
him. He will be missed here on earth but heaven has truly gained an
angel.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m., in the sanctuary of
Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC.
Services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Goshen
Baptist Church in Leland, NC.
If so choosing, memorials may be made in
Buck’s honor, to Winter Park Baptist Church or The Gary Sinise
Foundation.
