She was born in Wilmington, NC on August the 7, 1950 to the late J.B. Brown and Marjorie Brown-Gause. Brenda was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Penny Tartt-Baggett, a brother, Buddy Brown.
Brenda was a foster caretaker for a hefty portion of her life, assisting foster care agencies by supplying love and care for children who needed homes. There was never a time she would turn down care for a child in need, she would take them in without hesitation. At the age of 50, she adopted a baby girl and raised her to maturity. Brenda loved to take care of children and babies, as they were what made her the happiest. She taught in the NC public school system as a substitute teacher and worked with younger children in daycare as well. Brenda was a member of the Red Hat Society, participating in numerous meetings and outings with her mother and sisters, as well as close friends.
Brenda brought joy everywhere she went. Whether it was the appliance store, a party, or eating dinner in a parking lot during a pandemic. She also loved everyone she met... and those she hadn't. After one conversation with Brenda, you were her "baby". What a gift she was to everyone. Her example of joy and love will forever impact this world and will be carried in the hearts of those in her very large family made up of biological family, adopted family, foster children, friends, neighbors, and strangers who became family. We will miss Brenda more than we can explain, but we are so happy that she will now always be able to experience joy and love in the presence of her Savior, Jesus.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Crawford Ingraham; 3 children, Marjorie Tartt-Justice, Sandy Tartt, Jasmin Norris, grandchildren Jessica McGinnis, Ashley McGinnis, Bradley McGinnis, Nicolas Blake Rivera, Wesley Tartt, Addison Tartt, Daniel Baggett, Christina Colfer and great grandchildren Rhett McGinnis and Emeri Love Kennedy and her sisters, Betty Hoffman and Bonnie Hayes.
A visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm on Friday February 11, 2022 at Riley’s Creek Baptist Church, 19845 State Hwy 210 in Rocky Point, North Carolina.
A funeral service will start at 2pm in the Riley’s Creek Baptist Church Chapel.
