Nena was born in Legaspi City, Philippines to Mr. and Mrs. Modesto and Josefa Remolisan on July 18, 1923. Nena lived in the Philippines until November 1969 when her sister Fortunata Pableo and husband Getulio Pableo sent for her and her son Louis Malazarte and daughter Monica Malazarte Wright to live with them in the United States. Eight years later joined by her youngest son, Fred Malazarte.
Nena began her journey in the United States working the fields in Delano, California picking grapes. Eventually she settled in Southern California until her death.
Nena lived life to the fullest. After retiring from over 15 years at Xerox Corporation as an Assembler, she frequented the local and Las Vegas casinos. She loved to play the slot machines where from time to time she gets lucky and wins. True to her love for her family, she immediately shares her winnings with her children. She also loved her religion where she dedicated most of her free time as a volunteer to the St. Philomena Catholic Church and as a member of the 9:15 Marian Choir.
Nena was very generous to her children and grandchildren in the Philippines. She continued to provide financial support to them including sending some of her grandchildren to school, with some graduated with college degree.
Nena loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by four surviving children, 3 in the US and 1 in the Philippines. In addition, she is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
