Daughter of James Paul and Helen Moran and sister to JeanMarie McDonnell, Helen Lemal and Virginia Gethmann. Angela excelled at piano, tennis and was, from the beginning, the smart sister. She graduated from Rosary College in 1961 with a degree in Economics, married soon after and started her family. A loving and revered mother, she managed three children and got a Masters of Accounting and a C.P.A. certification simultaneously. She worked for Oakley, Gethmann & Ostrand in Evanston as an auditor and subsequently for The Illinois State Medical Society in Chicago. As an avid marathoner - three finishes in her 40’s and 50’s - she would come home from work, lace up her running shoes and run 10 miles along the lakefront, every day. She did it, she said, so she could eat whatever she wanted. A foodie to the core, she was a great cook and appreciated fine wine. Angela was a lovely person of unshakeable integrity with a wicked sense of humor, a genuine interest in people and was a fierce advocate for women. She spent her later years traveling the world enjoying new experiences and friends, forever sharing charming stories of her sights and delicious meals.
Graceful to the end, she will live on in the memories of her children, Monica (Michael) Murray, Eileen (Michael) Tarpy and John (Lisa) Walsh. Especially dear to her heart were her grandchildren, Mackenzie Murray, Tristan Murray, Delaney Murray, Jack Tarpy, Maeve Tarpy, Joey Walsh and Kristen Walsh, as well as her closest friend, Kurt Kliewoneit. We will love her always. A public service will be held in the Springtime, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, chicagosfoodbank.org.
