Aaron Jack Lazar graduated with honors from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS degree in Physiology, then from Rush Medical College with honors. His residency was in the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency, in Oak Park, IL.
Aaron was a Family Practice Physician from 1984 to 2020, earning Board Certification in Family Practice and in Geriatric Medicine. Aaron was a founding physician of DuPage Medical Group where he practiced over 30 years. He enjoyed treating patients from birth through old age. Aaron enjoyed delivering babies in the first years of his practice and was known to make medical visits to the homes of his patients in hospice.
Aaron loved his G-d, his family, and life. He enjoyed nature walks alone and with the love of his life, vacationing with sons, bicycling, hiking, kayaking on the Chicago River, exploring historical sites, poker nights with his buddies, music, and dancing. He enjoyed volunteering at Fishes and Loaves and the DuPage Senior Services where he delivered meals and made weekly phone calls to seniors. Aaron was a board member at Congregation Beth Shalom, Naperville, IL and participated on the Avodah Committee, COVID Committee, and the Landscaping Committee. Aaron launched the “Dr. Aaron Lazar Brain Cancer Solid Future Fund” to improve the structural integrity of the synagogue and secure the community’s home for generations to come. Aaron will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Graveside service Friday, June 3, 1:00 PM at Waldheim Cemetery, Gate 106, Forest Park, IL. Outdoor Shiva will be held at Congregation Beth Shalom, 772 W 5th Ave, Naperville, IL 60563, immediately following the service. All are welcome.
