From my first memories of Sharon , when she and Jack were engaged to be married, her cherished brother was the V.I.P. at family gatherings with our Barrett cousins.  At 10 years of age, I hadn't yet known anyone with such handicaps, and didn't understand what made Richard different. I only knew, from the way Sharon showered him with love, that he must be someone very special.  What a beautiful example of how to be human. Passing through  difficult times, Sharon demonstrated something someone called "heroic cheerfulness", maybe the ultimate gift we can give to those who walk with us. As I graduated to adulthood, I was delighted to be included among the recipients of her affectionate wise-cracking. Bringing good cheer and laughter wherever they went, Sharon and Jack made the world a  better, kinder place, through the way they lived and through the children they raised and grandchildren they helped to raise. May God bless and keep you always, dear Sharon. Dear God please comfort Jack, Kim, Kelly, David, the grandchildren, friends and all of us who have been blessed by knowing her. May we be inspired  by her goodness.

Sharon was one of my most favorite people in the whole world!  There was this very special memory I have that we shared of a very sweet conversation we had when I found out I was going to be a grandmother for the first time.
