Dr. Riordan was born and raised in Cortland, NY. After graduating from Cortland HS, he went on to earn B.S. and M.S. degrees in Music Education from Ithaca College, where he met and soon married the love of his life, his wife of nearly 67 years Jane (Decker). In 1966, he moved his young family to Western NY, first teaching band and coordinating the Instrumental Music Program at Maryvale HS in Cheektowaga and then advancing to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Iroquois Central in 1975. He earned an Ed.D. degree in Educational Administration through SUNY Buffalo in 1979, and after retirement in 1990 became an adjunct professor in Administration at Niagara University.
In addition to music, Dr. Riordan enjoyed reading, traveling, and bowling. A long-standing member of Lancaster Country Club, he was an avid and accomplished golfer, (typified by repeated Mr. & Mrs. Championships) and one-time President of the Club’s Board of Directors. Dr. Riordan is survived by his adoring wife Jane D. Riordan, loving children Marta L. Riordan and Kenneth B. (Patricia) Riordan, grandchildren Dr. Monica J. (Kyle) Frydach and Kenneth M.
