Carol & I would visit Harry almost every Saturday when we came to St. Francis for 3 p.m. Mass, which he would periodically attend. We got to know Harry when my mom was at St. Francis (passed away in December, 2009), and we have continued to volunteer each week and visit with him. I had the pleasure of bringing and sharing some BASS ale with Harry, who listed it as one of his favorites. He was a terrific guy and we will miss seeing him terribly.

To the Family of Harry Hardman-- My family and I were privileged to get to know Harry during this past year when he and my father, Tony, became roommates at St. Francis Nursing Home. What a very nice man he was! Whenever we saw Harry, he always greeted us with a friendly word, and we would talk about whatever interested him on that day. He clearly was proud of his family and would look forward to spending time with you whenever possible. Our family will definitely miss seeing him in his usual favorite spot in the St. Francis lobby. Please know that my father, mother, and all of our family send our sympathy to you at this time. May Harry now rest in peace. . . . We will miss him.

I'm sorry to hear about Harry. I enjoyed his company while he was at St. Francis Home in Williamsville.

Dear Paul and Family, I am very saddened to learn of my friend Harry's passing. He and I became friends while my Mom was in the care of St. Francis during the last six months of her life. She, he and I would have coffee every morning in the lobby. Harry Harry wasn't crazy about the St. Francis coffee. He'd say "Bring me a cup of that dish water Charlie." After my Mom's passing I continued to visit Harry on Saturday mornings - bringing him a cup of double double from Tim Horton's or Coffee Culture. Without doubt Harry was the most popular SFW resident. Everyone who passed through the lobby had a hearty "Hi Harry!" for him. Always a jokester, Harry always had comeback. He never complained. Over time my visits became less frequent. I wasn't planning to visit last Saturday but something told me to go. I am so glad I did. Harry was unusally quiet but we had a good talk and he enjoyed the coffee. I will miss those Saturday mornings. I know that you and your family will miss him acutely. I hope you take comfort in the fact that many, many others will as well. My sincere sympathy. Rest in peace Harry. You lived a worthwhile life.

Harry was an encouraging force for many of us to be our best, since he showed us by his example. His patience with other residents as well as his greeting of "top of the morning and to you all day long" with a smile & glint in his eyes,will be greatly missed by many of us. Harry was a true gentleman & it was an honor to be of assistance to him at St. Francis of Williamsville.
