Robert Lew Hardy, born October 17, 1930 to Purl and Maude (Burdo) Hardy in Handy Township, MI, passed away May 25, 2013 at the age of 82.
Robert was a local builder for over 50 years, having a favorite saying “I’m a jack of all trades, master of none.” He enjoyed many things in his life; he was an avid ballroom dancer and talented woodworker. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Past Master of the Williamston Masonic Lodge 153.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Prudence E. Russell; and his wife, Mary (August 20, 1994). Surviving to cherish his memory are one son, Robert P. (Amy Granger) Hardy of Dimondale, and two daughters, Susan (Mike) Baltusis of Mt. Pleasant and Laura (Gerald) Runyon of Lansing. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sam (Katie) Hardy, Lehanna E. Hardy, Leslie Runyon, and Katie Runyon; and three great grandchildren, Myla, Celia, and Weston Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Middle St. in Williamston with Dr. Gerald G. Osborn officiating. Interment will be at Summit Cemetery, Williamston. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at the funeral home with a Masonic service being held at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
