Perry lettered in Marching Band at Webberville High, playing the clarinet. In 1991 he wed Carol Pingle and gained 7 Pingle Siblings and had 3 children. After separating in 2003 he moved into his childhood home to take care of his ailing mother. He had a passion for cars that was furthered by his career at GM, where he retired in 2005.
May 5th 2008 he wed Dawn Prowdley and gained 6 children. With his wife and family, he started a Projects & installation business, MichPro 1 in 2006. His dad taught him to flip cars as a teenager that grew into a business in 2010, when he opened Perry’s Country Auto Sales.
His true joy was his family; Perry was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He was such a gentleman, always ensuring of his wife’s comfort and safety. He had a passion for fixing up cars and hunting, which he loved to share with all his kids and son-in-laws. The grandkids were never bored when Grandpa Perry was around. He was always ready to tell silly stories, play games, or teach them something new.
Perry was a devoted member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Williamston participating in so many facets, with a true love of giving. A highlight to his year was being a camp counselor at Wesley Woods for the High School group. For costume night, he always dressed as Superman; a fitting choice as he is remembered as being the kindest man ever, helping anyone in need. He was a real life “Superman” to so many.
Perry is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Marie Smith; children, Monica (Rick) Nichole Sarata, Clinton Allen Smith, Jessica (Ronny Suarez) Lynn Smith; stepchildren, Carolynn (Tim) Porritt, Toinette (Jeremy) Wicks, Chad Hayward, RikkiDawn (Michael) Turner, Alleysha (Brad) Seely, and Ellen (Jake) Shirreffs; sister, Kendra (Jeff) Vannortwick. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chad and Mary Lou and brother, Lee.
The family will have visitation on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 12-2p, with a celebration of life directly to follow at Crossroads UMC, 5491 Zimmer Rd., Williamston, MI 48895.
Memorial contributions in Perry’s name may be made to Wesley Woods Camp & Retreat Center.
