Darlene Parker of Williamston 86, passed away on December 6th 2021 in Lansing, MI. Darlene was born on March 3, 1935 in Webberville, MI to J.C. and Ethel (Hagman) Bohnett. She was one of 7 children, with 4 brothers, Robert, Donald, Gerald and George Bohnett, and 2 sisters, her twin, Laureen (Bohnett) Glover and Mary Lou (Bohnett) Nemer.
Darlene graduated from Dansville High School in 1953 and attended the nursing school at Lansing Community College, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse and devoting 5 years to Sparrow Hospital. She married Weldon Parker of Webberville, MI 1955 and they resided in Williamston, MI where they raised their three children, before retiring to their summer home in Bellaire, MI.
Darlene was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and sewing. Baking her grandchildren chocolate chip cookies, winning at the casino and a good manhattan or two. She was a member of the Alden Quilt Club and gave avidly to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital until her passing.
Darlene is survived by her three children, Russell (Cindy) Parker, Brenda (Mike) Fleser and Cindy (Neal Johnson) Parker; 6 Grandchildren, Alyssa (Blake) Johncock, Adam (Sarah) Parker, Andrea (Jerry) Jorgensen, Craig Fleser, Matthew Meranda and Benjamin Meranda; and 4 great grandchildren, Izadore, Jericho and Jorgen Jorgensen and Everly Johncock. In addition to her parents, Darlene was predeceased by her husband of 64 years and her 6 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Darlene’s memory.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 19th, 2 pm with visitation one hour prior at 1pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St. Williamston.
