Danny was a great guy and a fine Soldier. But, perhaps his greatest contribution was his teaching and training abilities. During our deployment (KFOR7), Danny was a vital contributor to our unit’s readiness and mission success. He worked with  and trained several Kosovo civilian workers in vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness the MIARNG way. I remember him fondly as one of our more “seasoned” Soldiers on a deployment where the vast majority of his fellow KFOR7 members were deployed for the first time. This included me as his HHC First Sergeant. Danny was a great advisor to me and helped make me a better leader with his advice and insight. Rest in Peace Sergeant Osborne…thank you for your contributions to those around you.

Known Dan for 50 years since  when I first came to Williamston.  You always knew what was on Dan's mind and there was no gray area.
He was always willing to help me in a time of need, or give some experienced advice to save me some trouble. When he started to get a little excited his eyebrows would be moving  up and down and he was getting ready to speak and he normally said a mouthful.  Too soon gone, going to miss his booming voice and big smile.

I served with Dan at Grand Ledge and also in Kosovo.  Sam Elliott reminds me of Dan, not the reverse.  I can share a partial story that happened in Kosovo.  Dan would rent movies from the PX.  He favored war and western movies.  He was telling a couple of us about a western he rented called “Brokeback Mountain”.  He had no idea of the “orientation” of the cowboys and let us know in few choice words when he discovered it was not his typical western!  Dan was one of a kind.  A mechanical master.  RIP brother.

I had the privilege to work alongside Danny for almost 20 years at Motor Wheel, Ypsilanti. We both worked side by side in the set-up  classification where we worked many long hours and more than a few double shifts together.  We commuted together for many years and had great conversations during the hour long ride.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing Dan for nearly forty years although our path did not cross as much as I wish I will allways remember those moments . I know the earth is a much better place because of his time here! and the county is a much safer place because of his service! Thank you my friend  R.I.P,

I am sorry for your loss! I remember many times being at drill with Dan, before he went to the National Guard. He always had a ton of knowledge.

All around great guy.

Dan was the guy that you always wanted in your foxhole. You always knew that whatever the circumstances were, he had your back. He was loyal, devoted, and very sincere. You always knew where you stood with a guy like Dan.

Losing (another) friend like Dan truly makes us appreciate the great friends that we have had, and cherish what we still have.

Dan was the type of guy that would do anything for anyone.  He was an awesome neighbor and friend!  He will be so missed!  My heart goes out to Marlene and Tami, and all who loved him!
