Bill was born November 16, 1956 in Ardmore Oklahoma, the son of William Gene, Sr. and Mary Olga Hall. He grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He received his BS in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University, minoring in Military Science at University of Michigan where he was commissioned an officer in the US Air Force. He received a MA in Public Administration from Webster University.
After eight years of military service and rising to the rank of Captain, Bill continued his civil service to his country at Fort Eustis and Fort Monroe. He was proud to have been the Deputy Chief of Staff of the TRADOC Army Capabilities Integration Center before retiring in 2014.
Following his retirement, Bill enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross and the Williamsburg House of Mercy/Peninsula Foodbank Distribution. He enjoyed travel, cruising, camping and boating. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by Joy, his wife of 42 years; two sons, Nicholas and his wife, Laurel, and Bryan and his wife Sommer; his two beautiful grandchildren, Ella and Brayden; mother, Olga; mother-in-law, Peggy Fraser, sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Stephen Lewis; and several cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188 on Friday, November 3rd, 2017 at 11am.
