Sven Dan Berg, Jr., 86, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on July 2, 2023 after a long battle with lymphoma. He was born to Myrtie Lillian Booker and Sven Dan Berg, Sr. on October 30, 1936 in Chester, PA, but grew up in Gloucester County, VA.
During his life he excelled in different fields. He was a Master Craftsman at Colonial Williamsburg for 34 years. He began running the Geddy Foundry, a brand-new site in 1967: casting pewter, silver, brass, and bronze items using 18th-century techniques. Following his early retirement in 1992, he embarked upon a thirty-one year career pursuing the sport of lawn bowling, finishing 2nd place in the nation twice. In addition, he was a lifetime sailor, first racing and then cruising on the Chesapeake Bay. Since the 1980s one of his greatest pleasures was spending time in the winter, camping on the Florida Keys. In each of these areas, he made several friendships that he treasured.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan; three children from his first marriage, Elizabeth Hay (Tom), Edward Dan Berg, and George Berg; four grandchildren, Kathleen Gray, Rosemary Rosinski (Glenn), Patrick Berg (Tru), and Lily Berg; and one great-grandchild Wyatt Rosinski.
The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 7-9:30PM. Burial services will be private. Memorial gifts can be made to a charity of your choice.
