He is preceded in death by his father, Cleo; his mother, Estes; and his brothers, J.D., Dayton and Jimmie Carter.
Jerry was an aviation electrician, and retired after many years of service from the Navy and Sikorsky Aircraft.
As a member of the Williamsburg Community Chapel, Jerry enjoyed his time with small group Bible studies and the men's breakfast Bible study at the chapel. He also loved to travel, and was a part of the Gideons International-Williamsburg Camp.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jeanelle Garrett Carter; son, Wayne Carter (Visa); daughters, Donna Byrum and Zoleta Ethridge (Dennis); grandchildren, Travis Byrum, Joshua Byrum, Alex Byrum, Mason Carter, Austin Carter, Kyle Ethridge, and Lindsey Donelli; along with seven great grandchildren and his sister, Patsy Joiner.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 4th, at 1:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg with a reception to follow. A private interment will take place for the family with military honors.
