IN THE CARE OF

Nelsen Williamsburg

Robert Edward Busch, 83, died peacefully on August 31, 2021 in Williamsburg, VA while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Jane. Bob was born on May 9, 1938, the seventh of 12 children of the late Marie Hummel Busch and Aloysius Busch, and grew up in Madison, New Jersey with his seven brothers and four sisters. He and his siblings enjoyed playing games together even during adult reunions. Bob graduated from Oratory Prep School, and earned BS and MS degrees in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MA in Public Administration from Kean University, all in NJ. He worked in several engineering and administrative fields, earned three US patents and was a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Planner. Bob loved science and was an avid stamp collector and wood worker. He could build or repair almost anything. He enjoyed driving his family throughout the continental US in the van he converted into a travel camper. Bob met Jane, his beloved wife of 59 years, on Valentine’s Day, 1958. They raised their children, Robert Edward, Jr. and Pamela Jane, in Elizabeth and Roseland, NJ. They later retired to Williamsburg, VA, just in time to enjoy 20 years of love and care for their beloved grandchildren, Leo and Sasha Murphy. Bob was predeceased by his brothers Monsignor Aloysius, Kenneth, Richard, Donald, and Leonard Busch. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his son Robert, Jr.; daughter Pamela Murphy (Thomas); sisters Joan Capaccio, Marilyn Klein (Jerry), Carol Rhoten (Steve) and Ann Shultz; brothers Gerard (Sandy) and Joseph (Elaine) Busch; and in-laws Ray and Fran Giegerich and Nancy Busch. Bob also leaves behind his cousins, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob and Jane were grateful to be able to continue living together until the end at Brookdale-Chambrel Assisted Living. Bob’s caregivers and visitors often commented that his fine manners, sense of humor and beautiful smile were still evident.
