After retirement, he continued to keep in touch with many friends from his "ABS Family".

He loved watching his granddaughter, Sarah, and participating in her many athletic activities at Lafayette High School. Bob appreciated the many visits from his circle of friends that he kept close for many years. He was member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. He was a previous member of Hilton Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and Co-treasurer, and a current member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Bob was a good man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He only wanted the best for everyone.
