Milton Clarke Simpson, Jr. (Mickey) 83, of Williamsburg and Ophelia, VA, passed away on October 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton C. Simpson and Rophelia Knight Simpson both of Norfolk, VA; and his sister, Bootsie Simpson Johnson of Atlanta, GA.
He was a teacher, a coach and a custom home builder.
Milton grew up in Norfolk, graduating from Granby High School in 1953 where he played football and ran track. He went to William and Mary on a football scholarship, graduating in 1959 with a BS degree in Math. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. In 1968, he got his masters from University of VA. He taught math and coached football and track in both the Alexandria City Schools and Fairfax County Schools from 1959-1985. He started building custom homes in 1969, establishing Mickey Simpson Builder, LTD. This extended through his move to Williamsburg in 1995 and continued to 2005 when he retired.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Kight Simpson (Penny); son, Clarke Pendleton Simpson (partner, Slaveya Yaninske) of Arlington, VA; daughter, Elizabeth Cullen Simpson of Eagle, CO; and grandchildren, Jackson Knight Kelley and Lola Ann Behlendorf of Eagle, CO.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Waypoint Grill, 1480 Quarterpath Rd., Williamsburg, VA from 2:00-5:00 P.M.
