Michael Francis Monahan

Captain Michael Francis Monahan, age 81, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda M. Monahan; his son, John Monahan; brothers, Bernie and Billy; and his parents.
He was the Captain of the Jamestown Ferry for 24 years and attended St. Olaf Church.
Michael served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of 28 years. He completed three tours in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star during his time of service.
He enjoyed NASCAR, eating, watching the Redskins, bowling, and spending time at the VFW Norge Post 8046.
Michael is survived by his sons, James (Diane) and Michael; his daughters, Michelle Michael (Jason Dye), Shannon Faulkner (Bo), and Tracey Lane; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved puppy, Henry.
A visitation will be held at 11:00am on July 9th, 2022 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg, with a Funeral service to follow at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be sent to the VFW Post, 18168 New Kent Hwy, Barhamsville, VA 2301.
