Marsha A. Martindale “Grammy”, 79, passed away peacefully to be with her lord and savior on Monday, December 12, 2022. She was born November 19, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Marshal and Norma Cowles.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; Marshal and Norma “Nana” Cowles and her husband, Gary Martindale. Marsha was an only child.
Marsha “Grammy” is survived by her son, William H. Longston III “Bill” (Krista); her daughter, Melissa Longston “Missy”; grandsons, William “BJ” and Zachary; granddaughters, Bridgette, Rachel and Alexis; as well as, great grandchildren.
Those who knew Marsha, knew how generous and caring she was. Marsha enjoyed playing bridge, line dancing, boxing and shopping at the DAV Thrift Store with her dear friend, Wanda. But most of all, Marsha had a heart full of love for her furry friends, especially her cat, Violet. Caring, playing and loving on “The Violet” was the highlight of Marsha’s day. Marsha cared for and adopted many furry friends over the years and would love if others did the same in her memory.
Marsha (Mom, Grammy, Friend) was loved and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, December 22nd, at Verena at the Reserve, 123 Reserve Way, Williamsburg Va. to celebrate her life and honor her memory. A burial service will be scheduled at a later time, at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, MO where Marsha will be laid to rest next to her late parents.
In keeping with Marsha’s spirit of giving and loving her furry friends, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Marsha’s name be made to the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd. Williamsburg, Va. 23185. (www.heritagehumane.org/donate/)
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the special friends (in Kansas and Virginia) and staff at Verena at the Reserve for the compassion and kindness provided for our mother over the years.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NelsenWilliamsburg.com for the Martindale family.
