Marie Belle Brewer, 94, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed from this earth Thursday, January 23, 2014.
She was born to the late William Doswell Moore and Minnie Belle Nuttall, March 30, 1919 in Gloucester, Virginia.
Marie moved to Williamsburg during World War II when she began a career with Colonial Williamsburg at the Williamsburg Lodge. She married Chief Warrant Officer (CW3), Larry Brewer, U.S. Army Retired in 1967. Together they enjoyed homes in Corpus Christi, Texas and Hawaii before settling in Williamsburg. Marie always remembered Hawaii as her favorite place in the world.
Fun loving and enthusiastic, Marie loved special occasions and holidays, especially Christmas. So much so she was chosen as Grand Marshall in the 1996 Williamsburg Christmas Parade. Marie was a creative woman and enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts as well as exercising her green thumb in her garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Doswell Moore and Minnie Belle Nuttall, her daughter, Carolyne Belle Hanson and her granddaughter April Tiffany Hanson. Marie is survived by her husband of forty six years, Larry Paul Brewer, her daughter Deborah Marie Wesolowski and husband Steve of Williamsburg, her daughter Frances Yvonne Turner of Matthews, Virginia, and her son William Ashley Outlaw and wife Nancy of Beaverdam, Virginia, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and her sister Frances Elizabeth Moore.
A family and friends visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29 from 6-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home. On Thursday January 30th a memorial celebration of her life will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Williamsburg Hospice House, 4444 Powhatan parkway, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188.
