Linda "Gail" Carpenter, of Shacklefords, VA, born on January 16, 1953, left her earthly life on July 4, 2021, and has been called to spend eternity with her Lord Jesus Christ. Gail was born in Bell Hospital in Williamsburg, VA, the daughter of Grace Huffman Carpenter and the late Edwin Lewis Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Carpenter and both sets of grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Buford Hannon Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Paul Huffman). She is survived by her son, Peyton Andrew Otey; mother, Grace Carpenter; sister, Judy Skove (David); brother, David Hannon Carpenter (Barbara); nephew, Christopher Skove; nieces, Kaela Carpenter and Laura Skove; and great nephew, Ezra Decker Skove.
Gail graduated from James Blair High School and then went on to work in several venues in Williamsburg and surrounding areas over the years. Outside of work, her particular interests and talents included care of her family, raising and care of animals including poultry and horses, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, square dancing, and sewing, including elaborate square dancing costumes.
Gail was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. At Gail's request, there will be no Memorial Service or public funeral. Interment will be private for immediate family only.
