Joseph John Ambrosio

Joseph J. Ambrosio, formerly of Tenafly, NJ, passed away peacefully at home in Williamsburg on May 27, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born in Englewood, NJ to Mario and Josephine Capasso Ambrosio. In 1964, he was married to Mary W., the love of his life. They were married for 59 years. Joe graduated from Cliffside Park High School and attended the American Institute of Banking, Hampden Sydney College, and Pace University. He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel, in 2021, and is survived by his wife; his sister, Mary Divock, and brothers, Mario and Anthony; along with several nieces and nephews. Joe began his banking career with Manufacturers Trust Company, and after numerous mergers, retired as a Vice President from Chase Bank, New York, NY, in 2000. He also served with the U.S. Army 102nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, New Jersey National Guard from 1963 to 1969. Since retiring to Williamsburg, VA in 2000, he had volunteered with The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and attended classes with The Osher Institute at the College of William and Mary. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 30 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service taking place at 6:30 PM. Burial will follow on Monday, June 3 in Englewood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN would be appreciated.
