IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Williamsburg
Frederick Paul Konta, devoted husband, father and grandfather, died July 24, 2024 at the age of 82 of Alzheimer’s Disease in Williamsburg, VA.
Fred is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Wright Konta; brother, George Konta (Nancy); three children, David Konta (Holly), Erin Konta (Marlowe Leibensperger) and Elizabeth Tramontozzi (Mark); and nine grandchildren: Charlotte, Nate, Amelia and Madeline Konta; Alison, Ryan and Jack Leibensperger; and Anthony and Elena Tramontozzi. He also is survived by nephew and niece, Adam and Hilary Jones and their families; and nephew and niece, Adam and Sandi Konta.
Born in 1942 in Cooperstown, NY to Dr. Franz Konta and Hermine Weinberg Konta, Fred attended kindergarten through high school in Richmondville, NY. He subsequently graduated from New York University and the Temple University Beasley School of Law. Fred practiced law for more than forty years, specializing in employee benefits and executive compensation as a partner in several New York City law firms, most notably Coudert Brothers and Baker & McKenzie.
Fred loved boating and enjoyed cruising on Long Island Sound and the Chesapeake Bay over the years with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Fred and Nancy moved to Williamsburg, VA in 2008, a semi-retirement for Fred until 2013. In Williamsburg, Fred enjoyed volunteering his legal and business skills on the Board of Governors, Marina and Legal committees at Two Rivers Country Club, making many special friends as he did so. Fred also chaired the Board of Colonial CASA and was an Executive Partner at W&M business school. He played the piano from the age of five and entertained family and friends over many years, especially during the holidays. His love of playing and singing comforted him and us in his later years.
We are most grateful for the kindness and support of family, friends and caregivers over the years as he slowly left us. Please consider a donation in his memory to the scholarship fund of the Williamsburg Landing Adult Day Program (www.williamsburglanding.org) so that others may benefit from the care of these amazing people.
There will be a funeral service at 2 pm on Sunday, July 28 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, followed by a private interment. There will be a reception at Two Rivers Country Club, 1400 Two Rivers Road from 3:15 to 5 pm. The service will be livestreamed on www.kogva.org.
