In 1980, he moved to Williamsburg, VA. Since 2005, he enjoyed a carefree lifestyle at The Williamsburg Landing with Maria Louise Yeatts, his long-term loving companion. Bud was a proud “Hokie” and member of the first graduating class of Co-Op students from Virginia Tech (V.P.I.) in 1957, with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
He enjoyed a long and distinguished career in automotive systems engineering with Bendix, Allied Signal, Siemens. Bud ultimately rounded out his life’s work with submarine systems design for the Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock; where his Father previously worked and retired from, as well.
Bud is proceeded in death by his parents Bertice “Bert” E. Walker, Sr., and Flora N. Walker. Bud is survived by his companion, Maria L. Yeatts; his Sister, Mary Ann Shindle; his Daughters: Teresa “Tere” W. Childers, Patricia “Patty” A. Dunton, Lindy “Linda” B. Walker; and Son-in-law Fletcher I. Dunton; his greatly loved and adored Grandchildren: Elizabeth F. Dunton, Sara N. Goldman, Matthew I. Dunton, Sophia J. Goldman, and Emily J. Goldman.
Bud was an avid woodworker who lovingly handcrafted a variety of cherished personalized gifts for his dearest loved ones. He enjoyed oil painting in his retirement years, producing over a dozen paintings of subjects that held special meaning to him. Bud also cherished his long-standing tradition of “Poker Night” with numerous friends over the years. He was an active member of Williamsburg’s Walnut Hills Baptist Church for many years.
Due to weather, the memorial service will now be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life reception held afterwards at The Williamsburg Landing in Williamsburg, VA at 2:00 PM.
