Benjamin Jay Underwood

Benjamin Jay Underwood, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away October 29, 2023 surrounded by his family. Born on November 13, 1961, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Ben graduated from Virginia Tech in 1984 and moved to Williamsburg. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Monica, and in 1993, they were delighted to welcome triplets to the family. Throughout the adventure of parenting, Ben was a great example for his children and devoted to his family. He was proud to work for George Nice and Sons. His work ethic, his positive attitude, and his intellect made him an indispensable member of the team. Ben was a skilled craftsman and created a lovely home. He enjoyed his work and loved spending time with his family at Lake Gaston and in Emerald Isle, NC. Ben was predeceased by his mother, Carol Underwood. He is survived by his wife, Monica Underwood; his three children, John, James, and Maggie (Zach Lawson); his father, John Underwood; his sister, Wendy; as well as a large extended family and many dear friends. Ben left lasting memories of love and laughter with everyone he knew. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on November 10, 2023 at 12:00 pm at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
