We are very sorry for the loss of your one and only. It was an honor to have met Peggy. We will always remember her being an amazing and incredible person that we love dearly. We enjoyed our time dancing the night away at Cheers and at Bel Glades. She will be deeply missed.

Peggy was a wonderful and kind person. When I first moved to central Florida, she introduced herself and offered me all kinds of assistance with starting my own rainbow group. I could sense her sincerity and that she was well intended. She was so helpful and kind. Without her, we wouldn’t have the great LGBTQ+ life that we have in The Villages today. She had the foresight and dedication to bring rainbow culture to the villages. There’s no one quite like her and no one to replace her.  I will miss her. Sincere heartfelt condolences to Wendy and the entire family.

Peggy and I worked for over a decade keeping our local PFLAG alive, she as President me as Treasurer. Working with her was a real pleasure. She was always so positive and full of energy! I already miss her. She left a hole in my heart which will never be filled. She was one of a kind! My heart goes out to Wendy and her family. I am sure Peggy is still looking down on us all.

I know that you are feeling an emptiness that nothing can fill.  Peggy was a real friend, someone you could gain not only financial but life advice from.  I missed her  immediately after I moved from The Villages to Virginia where I hoped one day she would be able to visit me and my partner Doris Moore.  Unfortunately that did not happen
as Doris passed away in July.
I admired the love that Peggy and Wendy shared every day of their lives.  I know the loss of Peggy is deep and eternal.  May God bless you all.

I am so saddened to learn of Peggy’s passing. I only knew her when I was a majorette and she was the Drum Major at VB High School, and she was a mighty fine one! She was a leader and always could be found smiling. A great memory of watching her do her thing on the field. It’s a memory I haven’t forgotten after all these years.

I knew Peggy when I was growing up in Norfolk-she lived with my uncle Speed and Aunt Jean in Virginia Beach.  She was always a leader with a lighthearted spirit.  My mother and I admired how she helped others, including the children she would teach.   One of my favorite memories was when someone had a Rubik's Cube and she whizzed right through it.  She was adventurous, smart with a heart of gold.  Wendy must have a wonderful wife.

What a tremendous loss to our Villages Rainbow Family!    I am shocked and saddened, and offer my sincerest sympathies to dear Wendy...as well as Peggy's family...sister Patti, and the nieces and nephews.   Peggy's contributions to the LGBTQ community are almost too impactful and wide-reaching to fully appreciate now, but will continue to be felt for years to come.  Without the pioneering leadership, bravery, and dogged determination of Peggy and Wendy, we would not reap the benefits from the vibrant circle of so many friends and social outlets that we enjoy today.   May Peggy rest in peace...continuing to soar ever higher...and may those of us who are left behind continue to cherish her memory, and honor and uphold her legacy of recognizing the right to love who you choose.

My wife Pamela Streetz and I met Peggy and Wendy when we first visited The Villages in 2007 at a party in one of The Villages’ rec centers.
From the start we were taken by her humor, joie de vivre and drive!
Peggy was a magnificent force of nature.  My background was civil rights and I loved how fiercely and charmingly she championed great causes.  Her thing was inclusion. 
She expected respect for all LGBTQ+ folks in all aspects of life, especially in her chosen community, The Villages.
She never thought of us as marginalized.  She believed that we all belonged in this tapestry we call life and needed to be acknowledged and appreciated.
She found a way to welcome all in our community and, along with Wendy, created a positive vehicle to share our presence and welcome all.  That is why Rainbow was always “Family and Friends”!
They made it safe and welcoming for all and, they made it fun!
Through her gentle actions she inspired us all to reach beyond our selves, expand our horizons and become involved in good and urgent causes.  
Her well produced drone videography awakened us to seeing the world from many different perspectives.  She documented hers and Wendy’s travels and many occasions of life in The Villages with wit and charm.

Dear Wendy, Patty and Davis,
I am so so sorry for your loss. It’s been such a devastating shock to everyone who knew Peggy. I will always remember her kind, gentle, giving, jovial spirit. Personally, she always made me feel welcome and  I am so proud of her leadership and grateful for her work in founding the LBGT community in TV. I’m also so grateful that I was able to see her in August when  you were all here visiting the Berkshires. I’m holding on to that afternoon  memory and smile every time I relive it in my mind. I will always keep her memory alive. I pray for your peace and comfort as you grieve for your wonderful Peggy.  I’m sorry that I cannot be at her “celebration of life” as I have a show that weekend. But we will surely celebrate her when I see you in Nov.

Wendy, Family and Friends of Peggy Garvin ,
Dixie and I are so saddened by the passing of Peggy.  We are blessed to call her and her beloved wife Wendy our friends.  If they had not founded Rainbow Family, Dixie and I would not have met and be planning our own wedding.  Peggy and Wendy are role models for what love can be.  We send Wendy, their family and friends our love and deepest condolences.  Peggy touched so many hearts, and she will be missed by so many.

I’m a graduate of NC Wesleyan, and my parents live in the villages so I’ve come to gatherings when I visit, throught it was great to see and meet others in the LGBTQ+ community plus my mom in the 90s got invoked in PFlag there at the village for awhile and now I know a big part of all of this was thanks to a beautiful hearted and spirited woman, Peggy, and her wife Wendy. Im sending my deepest condolences and prayers for healing to you Wendy and Peggy's entire family and friends at the Villages and beyond. She did so much for those there at the villages and life’s a full life and I know she will be with everyone in spirit. RIP Peggy you will always be remembered 🙏😇

Peggy and Wendy helped me adapt to life in The Villages.  Peggy was a friend, advisor and support for our community.  My condolances to Wendy and Peggy’s family and many friends.  I will never forget Peggy.

We were fortunate to have spent time with Peggy and shared hugs. We enjoyed dancing together with her and other friends at the Rainbow Club. We will carry our positive memories of Peggy with us.
