of Wilbur, Washington, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Davenport, Washington. Joy was born on May 11, 1921. Her parents were Jim and Emma Llewellyn. She was a graduate of Wilbur High School. Joy married Walter H. Rux in Wilbur on February 12, 1942. After raising their two daughters, Joy shared time with Walt in running their insurance agency, and served as Treasurer for many years. Her greatest pleasures were her love of family, a night out dancing, and the color red. Joy was a princess Wilbur. Joy is survived by her two daughters, Mary Kay Peterson, of Tacoma and Sally J. Rux, of Wilbur. She has two granddaughters: Mary Ann Peterson, of Burien and her husband Mark, and Bernice Joy Schneider, of Sumner and her husband Carl. Joy was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Sarah Ashleigh Weigelt, Ali Catherine Schneider, Emma Elise Peterson, Benjamin Carl Peterson. Joy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Mason and sister-in-law Alice. Her husband Walt also passed away in 2006 at the age of 90. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Lincoln County nursing home, who made Joy feel at home during her last years spent under their care. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm, Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Strate Funeral Home, 203 NW Main Ave, Wilbur, WA 99185. All are invited to join the family at the burial services held at the Wilbur Cemetery on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at the Wilbur Lutheran Church at 12:00PM (noon) with Pastor Roger Hudson officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately after the ceremony at 1 pm. Memorials may be given to the Wilbur Fire Department, the Wilbur Ambulance, or the Wilbur Swimming Pool Fund.
