Born December 9, 1917 to Ray and Vernice (Van Buren) Leonard in Hermon, New York. She grew up in the New York area and later met a nice looking military gentleman by the name of James Howard Curtis. They later married and moved several time around the US during his military career. They lived in Blythe, CA when Howard passed away in 1996. She later moved to Creston, Washington to be closer to family. She continued to live in Creston till 2008 when her health forced her to move to the Lincoln Nursing Home where she resided until May of 2012 when she moved to the Cheney Care Center, Cheney, WA. This is where she resided until her death on December 14, 2012 just five days after her 95th birthday. She is survived by one brother Ralph and Ruth Leonard of Lynden, WA and numerous nieces and nephews including Carol Copenhaver of Creston, WA and Hilda Demmon of Winton, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard in 1996, her parents one brother William Leonard and two sisters Laura Loos and Pauline Snell. She was a member of the Nazarene Church, South California Lions Club (Lioness), Wilbur Sr. Center. She enjoyed the Sr. Center and all the friends she made and she never missed a meal there with her friends. She was also an avid reader. As per her request no services will be held.
