William graduated from Edgewood Regional High School, New Jersey in 1970 and was the Captain of the Track Team. In 1974, William moved back to Bolivia to pursue a career in aviation. After receiving his pilot’s license, he flew as a private pilot in Beni, Bolivia. He then studied and became a pilot instructor. During his time in Bolivia, William met the love of his life Diana in Cochabamba, Bolivia and she became his wife in 1978. In 1996, William and Diana decided to move to Wichita, Kansas, where he started working at Integra Technologies Inc. After 27 years working at Integra, William semi-retired to spend time with his family and travel.
William enjoyed family events, cookouts, and flight simulators. He loved sports, particularly the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a devout Christian who enjoyed attending church. Above all, William was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter & Rosa Johnson and brother, John Johnson.
William is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diana Johnson; children, Michael (Claudia) Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Leslie S (Daniel) and Daniel Johnson; grandchildren, Nicole Johnson, Jason Johnson, Diego Johnson, Nicolas Johnson and Santiago Sanchez; sister, Sarah (Ranulfo) Saldia; brother, Pete (Anna) Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for William will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206.
