In 1956, Sherrell married Georgia Stone. They later divorced.
Sherrell attended Texas A&M and graduated from Friends University in 1986. He moved to Wichita
in 1967. He was a flight test analyst, working at General Dynamics and then later at Cessna (Textron) Aircraft. He retired from Cessna in 1993.
Sherrell had several hobbies, including stamp collecting, coin collecting, playing bridge and environmental concerns.
He is survived by his children, Melinda Haynes of Wichita, David and wife, Annette Williams of Fort Collins, Colorado, Rick and Valerie Williams of Wichita; a brother, Jerry and wife, Sandy Williams of Pineville, Louisiana; sister, Charlotte and husband, Weldon Skinner of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Melissa Williams; a granddaughter, Celena Haynes;
and a son-in-law, P.J. Haynes, Jr.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Resthaven Garden of Memory, Garden of Meditation.
