Ruth Belle Nelson, 99, passed away at 8:23pm on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River, Kansas. She was born September 14, 1914 in Liberty, Kansas to Granville J. and Harriett M. (Schultz) Scott. Ruth graduated from Fall River High School in 1932.
She was united in marriage to Roy Nelson on April 11, 1942. The couple was reunited on their 72nd wedding anniversary. Roy preceded her in death on September 29, 1991. Ruth taught in a one room school house in Fall River, KS and High School in Howard, KS. She worked as a timekeeper for several years at Boeing, was a retail clerk at Hinkel’s Clothing Store and retired as a Unit Clerk at St. Francis Hospital.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glen Andrew Scott and Jack Scott; sisters, Lucille (Scott) Schroeder, Faye (Scott) Ogden, Emma Marie (Scott) Graham. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ziegler of Wichita; granddaughters, Tia Perez, Sapulpa, OK, Talisha (Terry) Rogers, Little River, KS, and Tina (Greg) Jamis, Wichita.
A visitation will be held from 9-11am at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, 201 S. Hydraulic, Wichita, KS 67211 and there will be a procession to the 1:00 pm graveside service to Weakley Cemetery, New Albany, KS on Thursday, April 17, 2014.
