Robert was born on November 10, 1935, in West Plains, MO., the youngest of five children. He struck out on his own at the age of 14, moving to Wichita to begin a series of jobs that would eventually lead to him owning and operating his own successful trucking business for many years. Even after selling the business, Robert continued to drive for local trucking companies into his late 70’s. He enjoyed being on the road and seeing the country. His travels took him to every state in the U.S. except Alaska and Hawaii.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Nancy (Summers) McKee; wife of 45 years: Anita; siblings: Maxine Collins, Harry Joe McKee, Paul James McKee, Elsie Croney, and son Martin Gray. He is survived by children: LaDonna Johnson, Jerald (Cindy) McKee, Michael (Marla) Gray, Marylin Warren, Marvin Gray and Robyn (Dennis) Schumacher; and 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, October 28, 2022, from 2:00 to 3:00 and a funeral service will occur Friday, October 28, 2022, at 3:00 PM, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, with a graveside service immediately following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
