On April 24, 1964 he married Alice D. Cooper in Wichita, Kansas.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ruth Gassaway; siblings, Shirley Fenn and Robert "Bob" Wunnenberg.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice Wunnenberg; daughters, Judy and husband, Jessie Garrison, Patricia "Patty" and husband, Dino Tuzzio, Nancy and husband, Scott Beard; grandchildren, Tiffany Booth, Joseph "Joey" and wife, Abbie Booth, Kelly and husband, Chris Drum, Joshua Booth and significant other, Maylene Morgan, Jeremiah and wife, BillieJo Booth, Gabrielle and husband, Brad Phillips, Lisa and husband, Travis Vontress, Mandy and husband, Miguel Rodriguez, Cory Tuzzio, Kara and husband, Gary Shockey, Amber and husband, Derek Curry, Aimee Beard and significant other, Curtis Emberson, Tyler Beard; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and one great great granddaughter on the way; and sisters, Delores Wunnenberg, Jean and husband, Ron Hohbien.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Resthaven Mortuary; funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, August 12, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Gospels with military honors.
A memorial has been established with Sedgwick County Zoo.
