Patrick James Linton, 58, loving husband and father, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born September 7, 1966 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Merle Eugene and Carol Louise (Bushman) Linton.
Patrick attended Sterling High School where he graduated in 1984. After high-school, he went on to Western Illinois University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. During high-school, he began his radio career at WJVM in Sterling, Illinois.
As a young adult, Pat marched with the Geneseo Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, where he played the baritone. This experience is where a lifetime love of travel began for Pat.
Pat continued his radio career at WJVQ, Macomb, Illinois, KRDI in Decorah, Iowa, and at WYGC in Gainesville, Florida, where he then met and married, Tracy Wilkinson, in 1996. After their marriage, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he worked at KYQQ as a morning show host and later KFDI. In 2000, his oldest daughter, Allison, was born. After winning a CMA Award, as part of the Cornbread Morning Show, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to continue his career at WIL, where he won his second CMA Award. In 2006, his youngest daughter, Abigail, was born.
In 2012, Pat returned to Wichita and worked at Connoisseur Media, where he was a morning show host. In 2017, he began working as a operations manager/morning show host with Eagle Media in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Pat enjoyed trips in his RV, affectionately named Coach, and his truck, Big Brutus. He had a passion for photography, where he was always behind the camera. He proudly loved collecting videos and photos of his family that he captured. Pat was an avid Florida Gators, St. Louis Cardinals, and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. Most of all, his biggest passion was supporting his daughters' musical endeavors from marching band to youth symphony.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Merle and Carol Linton.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 28 years, Tracy; his children, Allison (Kaleb) McQuillan and Abigail Linton; his brothers, Gary (Sandy) Linton and Timothy Linton; as well as the family dog, Max; and the family cats, Quinn and Fish.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
