REGAN, Sr. Patricia Ann, 91, was born October 23, 1931 in Independence, KS and entered eternal life June 11, 2023. The youngest of three children born to John Patrick Regan and Irene Marie Ames, began her education in St. Andrew Parish School in Independence, KS for grades 1-5. The family relocated to Long Beach, CA where she completed grades 6-12 in St. Anthony’s Parish School. After completing high school, she returned to Kansas and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita on September 8, 1949, receiving the habit on March 20, 1950, first vows July 26, 1952 and final vows on July 26, 1955. Her continuing education included a B. Ed. from St. Mary of the Plains College, Dodge City, KS, a M. Ed. from Fordham University, New York. Sr. Patricia Ann’s long ministry as an educator included teaching for 37 years in the Dioceses of Wichita, and Dodge City, in KS as well as the Archdiocese of San Francisco and Oakland in California. During twenty-five of those years she also served as principal of those schools in which she taught. In 1988 she retired from teaching and began a new ministry in pastoral care at Georgetown Village Retirement Center until 2016. With her sister, Sr. Kathleen she also spent time volunteering at Guadalupe Clinic. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Patrick Regan, and her sister Sister Kathleen Regan. Finally retiring from active ministry in 2016 and beginning her own retirement, she continued to reside at Mt. St. Mary Convent in Wichita where she delighted the other residents with her sunny smile and delightful sense of humor. Funeral services will be in private at a future date.
