Mildred L. Jackson peacefully made her journey home on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022; 91 years after making her entrance on August 22, 1930. She is survived by three of her children; David Jackson, Sharon Lemon and Kenneth Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry (2005) and her daughter Linda Moore (2006).
A longtime resident of Wichita, Kansas, she spent her last years near her daughter Sharon in Edwardsville, Illinois. Growing up, she moved a lot around the Southwest due to her father's employment with the phone company. They settled down in the Phoenix area where, after High School, she became Mrs. Jerry Jackson. That chapter of her life carried on an itinerant lifestyle with the United States Marine Corps. Along the way they got to live and visit many of the mainland states as well as Alaska and Hawaii and Japan and the Philippines. During that time, she presented Jerry with four children. After 21 years, two wars, 11 relocations, four kids and many friends and churches along the way, she got to settle down in Wichita, Kansas. She finished raising her four children just in time to start enjoying all the grandkids.
Along with taking care of her family, if you were one of the more fortunate people to get one of her Afghans or needlepoint crafts or quilts or any of her other creations you would understand what I meant if I told you she loved helping people. She was always active in her church with the children and the choir and singing specials. She was definitely a "doer" and one that you could always count on.
Throughout her life, from beginning to end, more than one person on more than one occasion made comments about her kind words, hugs, sharing and willingness to help.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2022 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Prayer, Wichita, Kansas.
