Mark was predeceased by his parents Ruby and Elvie Loewen. He is survived by his brothers, Jim Loewen, Wichita; Rick Loewen, Ocoee, Florida; and Don Loewen, North Aurora, Illinois.
Mark graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1976, and from Tabor College in 1985 with a degree in Psychology. Mark put his education to work as a counselor, mental health worker, psychiatric technician and as a case worker. He worked in his chosen field until multiple sclerosis interfered.
Mark has a note on his Facebook page that says “just a guy living with MS”. The key word here is “living”. Mark had a wide range of interests, lots of friends, and he was a busy guy. He loved a wide variety of music and he recorded live shows as often as he could. He volunteered with the Tallgrass Film Festival. Even with MS, he kept active cycling, with a recumbent cycle. He was a regular participant with a MS support group. He attended the First Mennonite Brethren (Ridgepoint) church as well as “Gathering “ a non-traditional worship group.
Mark did not have an easy life. He was married for a few years. The breakup and divorce was tough on him. His ex wife passed away shortly after the divorce.
Memorial services will be January 28, 2023 at 10 AM at Ridgepoint Church located at 8000 W. 21st St. in Northwest Wichita.
