Marilyn Isabelle Butterfield, 86, lifelong resident of Wichita, passed away on November 9, 2024. Marilyn was born April 24, 1938, the oldest child of Joseph and Ruth (Carney) Stump. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1956. She married the love of her life, Melvin T. Butterfield, in May 1958, and together they raised a family of eight children in the St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Wichita, KS.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Melvin; daughter Catherine; parents Joseph Stump, Ruth (Carney-Stump) Albert, and Theodore Albert; sister Karen Kleewein; step-sister Rose Johnson; and step-brothers Eldred Albert, Elmer Albert, and Eldon Albert.
She is survived by her children Debra Butterfield, Steven Butterfield, Brian (Deidra) Butterfield, Charlotte Scoggins, Sharon (Mitch) Clothier, Richard Butterfield, and Gail Butterfield; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Ron (Carol) Stump and Janice (Jim) Brown.
Rosary will be on Wednesday November 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2007 N. Arkansas, Wichita, KS. Burial will take place at Kechi Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside Ave., Park City, KS.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at ComfortCare Homes for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided Marilyn during her final months.
