age 81, of Wichita, Kansas, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on December 11, 2021.
Judy was born March 23, 1940 in Iola, Kansas and moved to Wichita with her family when she was two. She attended Alcott Elementary, Robinson Junior High, and Wichita High School East where she was co-valedictorian of her graduating class. Judy graduated magna cum laude from Wichita State University, majoring in Accounting and minoring in English. There she joined Alpha Chi Omega, becoming Alumna of the Year in 2001.
Judy passed her CPA exam on the first sitting and was among the first female CPAs in Kansas. She worked in Wichita all her life. The firms she worked for sent her all over the world to conduct audits which she enjoyed because she loved to travel, especially when it was free. Judy was also a self-employed tax accountant for many years until she retired.
Judy met the love of her life, James (“Jim”) Naylor when she was still in high school. It was love at first sight. They married on November 24, 1960, and were happily married until Jim’s death in 2004.
Judy supported many Wichita institutions and organizations with her time, money, and talents. She served as treasurer for several groups and organizations. She also served as a docent at the Wichita Art Museum and Cowtown Museum. She and her husband had Wichita Symphony season tickets for many years. They were charter members of Botanica and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Their church family was especially important to them and they served in many capacities, including Stephen Ministries, Mariners, and Judy’s beloved choir.
Judy was a faithful correspondent and kept in touch with many relatives and friends. Judy hosted a yearly Alcott Elementary reunion at her home for “the gang” who voted Judy “the hostess with the mostest.” Judy also hosted a yearly Christmas Eve party in her home for over 50 years.
The family would like to thank all Judy’s caregivers from Kiefer Senior Care and Home Health and Hospice of Kansas for their truly tender, loving care, and would also like to express their gratitude for the unending loyalty and love given Judy by her niece/nurse, Debra Harries.
Judy was preceded in death by her father Gerald Leon Curtis, her mother Helen Juanita Sutton Curtis, and her husband James Rollin Naylor III. She is survived by her brother Gary, his wife Michele, and their children Tiffany, Christopher, and Joshua; as well as many other beloved relatives and life-long friends.
Memorials may be sent to Covenant Presbyterian Church or your own favorite charity or organization should you wish to make a donation in Judy’s name.
