Joyce Ann (Nix) Foulkrod passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2020 at the age of 61. She is survived by her children; Allison Foulkrod and her daughter Abbigayle Young, Adam (Samantha) Foulkrod, David (Jessica) Foulkrod and their children Elgin and Adaline Foulkrod, sisters; Rita Burch and Linda Ramey. She was a friend to many, a mother figure to others, and a generous and gracious soul to everyone she met. Her loss is deeply felt throughout the community of Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Despite the tragic loss, we honor her by remembering her life story. She was born May 19, 1959 to Homer and Iva (Florence) Nix. She began her life on the family farm near Hugoton before eventually moving into town. She maintained her farm girl work ethic throughout her entire life. She cared for community members in Hugoton through babysitting and working as a CNA before marrying William Foulkrod and moving to Medicine Lodge in 1983. She then began a family that extended far beyond her own children. Many considered her as their own mother and grandmother. She volunteered in blood drives, voting polls, and in any other way needed. She was knowledgeable in all aspects of home improvement and took pride in her work. She was especially happy to receive compliments on the quality of her projects. She also spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Her three grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She helped strangers as earnestly as she helped friends. She was an avid Chiefs football fan (Super Bowl champs 2020!). She was a devout Christian and is undoubtedly now with Jesus. We believe in her final moments that she reached out to her Lord and Savior. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St. in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
