Sorry to hear about John's passing. I always enjoyed talking with him at work. He was a good guy. My sincere condolences to the family.

For many years after this photo I was known as 'flute man' the boy who played the black flute (clarinet). Shortly after the flute man nickname I acquired a second nickname, 'No Neck Nick'. On a separate occasion a few years later I was blessed with the nickname 'Smiley'. All 3 of these names were coined by John and repeated emphatically. I was 14 when the photo above was taken in July of 2007. John taught me humility and to be able to laugh at one's self. He taught me to embrace being embarrassed and just be who I was. Still to this day there may be occasions I don't fit in or make a blunder but I do what he taught me. Smile till your face hurts. ☺️  Hope to see you again.

I am  lifting your family up to Heaven and asking Him to comfort and hold you close even now. John, Jeff, Carol, and Betty will always be part of my favorite growing - up memories. I am so very grateful that God put caring people like these here to make life on earth better, even though I don't know why some seemingly have to go too soon. I had the privilege of working with John on the gladiator project for the last fives years to help him facilitate units where they needed to go from the flight line and from the factory, and the many other side projects that got involved of wrapping planes and making sure product was protected for reworkhe was very kind and caring man that was always there to make sure that everything flowed properly and every step of the way every day John always joked that I might get fired today because he might be going to a meeting and he didn’t know what he was getting himself into. most other days, sometimes it seem like he occasionally enjoyed, stirring the pot, just to see the system squirm a little because we brought too much back to the factory or not enough. He was one man that was not afraid to stick up for what was right, no matter who you were. He talked about his fishing stories a lot and many outdoors adventures he had throughout the years. John made all of us at the fuselage crew feel like his second family and made sure we were taken care of while at work.  He will be greatly missed as we continue this project and remembrance of him and all he had accomplished.  Rest in peace

I'm so sorry to hear of John's passing, your loss is tremendous I know. It's been thirty some years since we were all together, Brandon was just a baby, but I thought of all of you often. John was always the solid anchor in the storm and will be sadly missed. I feel truly blessed to have known him and able to call him a true friend. I miss him.

John and I were the best of friends through much of our formidable years, all through high school and beyond. The rivers of life sent us down separate tributaries, but the time and memories of our friendship will forever stay with me. Rest easy my good friend.

John was always a very diligent, kind professional who effectively managed the Gladiator program.  I had the pleasure of helping him facilitate Spirit employees who came over the Air Capital Flight Line flightline to inspect or work on the fuselages.  I will always treasure the working relationship I had with him and him saying he was trying to get fired.  It always brought a chuckle to both of us.  He is dearly missed by our Air Capital Flight Line security team and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To write who John is to me will take many more pages than I am sure this will allow. John was a friend, a mentor, and a second father to me. From taking me hunting when I was little, to being my mentor for my Eagle Project, to being a lifelong friend, words can not describe the loss the world has experienced. John would’ve given you the shirt off of his back then asked how else he could help. John loved so big, and gave so much, and never asked for anything in return. 

God took this truly great man from us too soon. John, you’re a great man and you are already missed.
