Joan J. Schlund, age 94, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was born October 12, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to Thomas and Elizabeth Scheidt. Joan was married to Gordon Schlund for over 50 years and had 3 children together.
Joan was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her produce with family and friends. She would spend hours listening to Elvis and dancing to his music. She worked as a cook and dietician at a nursing home in Wichita, Kansas for 13 years. Joan and her family have been devoted members of Saint Peters Catholic Church since 1965.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Schlund; son, Duane Schlund; great granddaughter Caroline Green; her 2 brothers, Gene Scheidt and Bill Scheidt; and her sister, Geri Faber.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Sandy Schlund; her son, Alan Schlund; 2 grandchildren: Courtney (Connor) Green and Austin Schlund; 1 great granddaughter, Emily Green; and her sisters: Dorothy Coffel and Alice Weber.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, December 4th, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 11000 W Southwest Blvd, Wichita, KS 67215.
