Jerry started her school years at Franklin Elementary, then continued on to Allison Junior High. She graduated from North High School in 1949, then attended Friends University, majoring in Art. Jerelyn worked briefly as a long distance operator for Southwestern Bell, then at Boeing, each for 2 years. Her love of art drove her to teach private lessons in oil paintings for over 20 years.
She enjoyed bowling and playing golf, especially at Tallgrass, Reflection Ridge and Sims Park where she was President, twice! She was a Master Gardener and volunteered at Botanica.
Jerelyn is preceded in death by: her husband, Richard Young and daughter, Debra Knipp.
Jerelyn is survived by: her son, Mark Young; son-in-law, Edwin Knipp; granddaughter, Allison (Michael) Everett; grandson, Adam (Jana) Knipp; great-grandsons: Gage Everett, Dakota Everett, Grant Knipp, Kael Wren, Logan Knipp; and great-great- granddaughter, Ayla Everett.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM with inurnment to follow in the Garden of Acacia Lawn, both at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
