Jared Ray Cook, 64, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 31, 2022. Jared is survived by his wife, Stephennie, his children; Jason (Krissy), Janelle (Anthony), and Josh, his five grandkids; Colden, Jayden, Collin, Karis, and Emily. Also surviving is his mother Esta Virginia Cook, twin sister Julie, and siblings; Marietta (Tom), and Steve (Okhui), numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Jared is preceded in death by his father, Oliver James Cook.
Jared was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 5, 1958, but spent the majority of his life in Wichita, KS. He married the love of his life, Stephennie, on September 3, 1977, and was a loving and devoted husband for nearly 45 years. A plumber by trade, he so often gave his time and skills away to others as his ministry and a way of sharing his daily walk with Christ. In 2012, he fulfilled his dream of returning to South Africa to help build a hospital as part of a missions trip. He was passionate about his family and church family, giving all those he knew an example of Christ’s love. Being an active member of Northwest Free Methodist Church brought him great joy, where he served as a board member for more than 30 years. Jared chose Heavenly rewards over material possessions, and his daily wardrobe consisted of a blue tee shirt and shorts over name brands. His laugh was contagious and Jared always had a light hearted joke on standby, one more tool he had for connecting with people.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Northwest Free Methodist Church, 3224 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, Kansas 67205.
Services and visitation will be held at Northwest Free Methodist Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 1 pm, with visitation beginning at 12 pm.
