James LeRoy Tabor passed away peacefully, January 22, 2017 at the age of 74, retired from Mazak, the owner of Tabor’s Machine Tool Repair, and a master of all trades. Back in the day, you could catch Tabor dragging Douglas in his Poppy Red '58 Corvette, known for its dramatic tilt and big fat tires. Recently, he could be seen cruising to car shows with Sherry, his wife of 18 years. Clever and ornery, his favorite prank was a quarter glued to the floor of his shop. Tabor loved his family dearly, was proud of his children, and will be deeply missed by all. He is preceded by his parents Oscar and Isadora Tabor, and survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters, Aimee (Jennifer Schierlman) Tabor, and Jamie (Eric) Schmidt and their children, Arora and West; sisters, Delores Ellison & Sheryle Burns; step-children, Adrienne (Damon) Schimming, Clarissa Johnson and Kerry (Lori) Blankenship as well as their families. Rosary 6 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 and Mass of the Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 both at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 1912 W. Grand Ave, Haysville, KS 67060. Tabor’s burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery and a gathering at 1 p.m. at Fisch Haus, 524 Commerce, Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 330 S Main St #100, Wichita, KS 67202.
