In his youth he played baseball and as an adult he played softball. He was also part of the Cowtown gun fighter re-enactments and had a love for horses. He went on to graduate from West High School and had two children, Douglas and Stefanie.
In his career life, he started out in the paint department at Cessna and later worked for Otis Miller. In his later years, he was the head automotive instructor and the superintendent at AMTECH for over 15 years. Until retirement, he sold printing materials, worked for Caines delivering coffee and Hostess, delivering food products.
In his free time, he was an avid golfer. He played many golf courses throughout the U.S, and even won a couple hole-in-ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Bernice (Hough) Barnes, grandson Blake Barnes and nephew Brian Rackie.
Harold is survived by two children, Douglas Barnes and Stefanie (Reggie Monson) Barnes; one grandson, Michael Barnes; two great- granddaughters, Kimberly Barnes and Daisy Barnes; one sister, Patricia Rackie; one nephew, Deron Rackie; along with step-granddaughter, Emily Hickey and step-grandson, Clay Hickey.
A graveside service for Harold will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, the Garden of Meditation, 11800 US-54, Wichita, KS 67209.
